to try synchro? So you've learned to swim. Well done! Are you interested in improving your style, fitness and strength? Do you want to have fun with lots of others of your age? Do you want to do more than lane swimming? Do you want to be part of a team that will be sending swimmers to Olympic training? Could you develop to be a member of the British synchronised swimming squad? Would you like to see how easy some of the starting figures are to learn? In order to join our club and try synchro all we ask is that you are competent swimmer able to swim a width of any stroke. You must also be happy to put your face into the water and be confident in the deep end of the pool. In line with the club policy of promoting the sport the club aims to run three prelimary courses each year on a termly basis. The course lasts for 10 sessions, the cost is £40 which includes insurance, a hat and a noseclip. Courses are held at HMS Temeraire, Burnaby Road, Portsmouth, PO1 2HB. As this is a naval base it will be necessary to obtain a pass for you and two passport sized photos will be required. If you are not sure whether synchro is for you the club will organise a temporary pass so you can have a go before commiting yourself. What you will need to bring:- Swimming costume, goggles, towels etc.... Who is your coach:- Kathryn Pounder, 1997 British synchronised swimming champion, Ex-international swimmer, coach and choreographer. What it will do for you:- increased confidence and technical ability in the water, increased fitness and body tone (especially good for getting rid of bingo wings!), increased ability in all other swimming disciplines, increase flexibility, non-weight bearing so good for the joints, good social side, meet new friends. We have the pool to ourselves so no staring public. You will need to send me 2 passport photos and your details including address, full name, date of birth, contact number and e-mail, so that I can organise a Naval pass for you (this takes about a week). |
