We realise that not many synchronised swimmers will start at the age of 6 however, this is based on an ideal situation. As each swimmer joins we would endeavour to get them to the level required dependant on their age. Ability and dedication will make a difference to the speed at which any swimmer will progress.

We have devised this table so that it is easy to see what level a swimmer should be, dependant on their age. A swimmer should never be pushed past this level until they have reached the correct age. The highest level they can achieve at a specific age is stated in the extra effort column, if the coach thinks that the swimmer has made a special effort and attended such extra training as land, flexibility etc., then the swimmer will be given the opportunity to take the next level.

This chart has been designed with the LTAD in mind, and also so that the swimmer isn’t over pressured to take too many skill levels at once. It will allow the swimmer at least 6 months to work on their next skill. Swimmers need to learn how to swim and the basics before they can Synch!!
