| Fee Structure In March 1995 a sub committee was convened to look into the structure of the fees. The Club monthly subscriptions cover quite a number of expenses incurred during the year. Pool hire is the greatest expense but in addition there is an annual club membership; annual ASA registration, which covers insurance, affiliation to the South East Region ASA and affiliation to Hampshire County ASA which are paid per capita for every member. In addition in 1996 a Music Licence Fee was introduced. Previously some months, particularly 1st January of each year, had proved to be expensive with these other fees becoming due as well as the usual monthly fees. For the COMPETITIVE SWIMMING MEMBERS the Finance Sub Committee decided that the total cost of pool hire, taking into account that there were fewer pool hours during school/summer holidays, but including all the other fees and dues mentioned above, should be added together and divided into twelve equal payments. Currently this stands at £35 per month which is payable on 1st of each month. If there are two competitive swimmers in one family, the fees will be £55 and £65 for families with three swimmers. All fees are payable by standing order. The annual ADULT CLUB MEMBERSHIP is £10, payable on joining and again each 1st January. This fee covers the insurance necessary for adult members who wish to partake in any of the club's activities and also to watch a swimmer in the water. One adult member of each family will be expected to join. Swimmers who are students are catered for in the following way:- A student in Portsmouth who is registered with her home club but who wishes to train in term time only will pay 75% of the fee, currently £27 per month. A student away from Portsmouth, her home club, who wishes to train in the holidays only will pay 25% of the fee, currently £9 per month. If this student also wishes to be registered through the club this will be increased to £12 per month. These fees are all payable monthly by standing order. It became apparent that swimmers who no longer wished to compete were keen to continue with stamina training. It was agreed at the 2004 AGM that membership at £10 per year to cover the insurance issues would be given to these swimmers who would then be able to attend sessions to partake in the stamina followed by ½ the session coaching other club members. Fees for Competition Entry and Skill Assessments Competition entry and skill assessments fees are paid separately as required. Preliminary Instruction Course Fees In line with club policy of promoting the sport the club aims to run three Preliminary Courses each year on a termly basis. These courses are generally held on a Saturday at HMS Temeraire, Portsmouth. The cost of this course is £40 which includes insurance, club membership for the term, a nose clip and club hat. At the end of the course most swimmers are invited to become full members of the club. In the case of protracted illness, over six weeks, membership of the club can be maintained for the reduced monthly fee of £10 for the period of absence. This will cover continued ASA registration, club membership and insurance. Swimmers are still able to attend club sessions even if unable to swim and when fit enough could re-start their training. In cases of financial difficulty please write in confidence to the Management Committee. The Management Committee will review the fees annually and during the course of the year if costs are exceeding income. All cheques should be made payable to PVSC. |
